The road reconstruction projects will be completed by the City’s Department of Public Works (DPW), Department of Engineering, and its contractors, using both state and federal funds.

The plan includes reconstruction of nearly 27 miles of roads with projects in every quadrant of the city. The City will also seal and resurface approximately 26 miles of streets in areas without curbing. The Syracuse Common Council approved the plan at its March 3 regular meeting.

Planned Work

The Department of Public Works planning road reconstruction projects —which include milling (the removal of existing pavement), repaving, and, when necessary, the replacement of curbs— is shown below. DPW will advice residents in advance of work. When work takes place, cars must be moved off the street by 6:30 am and driveways will be inaccessible while crews are working. Actual project completion will be contingent upon availability of materials, equipment, staffing, and weather conditions.
