Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced a State Supreme Court judge upheld the City’s request to require the cleanup of an unpermitted appliance graveyard on the Northside. Supreme Court Judge Gerard J. Neri ordered the owner of Kammar’s Restaurant Equipment to remove all debris, materials, equipment and other junk from City right of way around the properties at 926 and 1000 Wolf Street.

The Court also ordered Charles Kammar to correct all code violations at the properties, including the adjacent vacant lot at 916 Wolf Street and to remove tractor trailers from the City right of way in the area. The Judge ordered a four-phase process to clear the site with a final deadline for cleanup of April 26.

“It’s a junk yard in the public right of way, and we won’t allow it to continue. The property owner has willfully ignored ongoing enforcement by City Code Enforcement making partial improvements only to return to unlawful behavior,” said Mayor Walsh. “We will hold the property accountable to Judge Neri’s Order and bring an end to this neighborhood blight.”

The Court set the next appearance date on May 6, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
