The City of Syracuse Department of Neighborhood and Business Development (NBD) is seeking feedback from residents and agencies to determine funding priorities for housing and community development over the next five years. Information gathered from the following Housing and Neighborhood Surveys will help the department assess neighborhood needs and identify strategic priorities for distributing federal funds:
Each year, the City of Syracuse receives Federal Block Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). This funding supports the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME).
The City awards these grants to agencies offering programs that help residents and families in Syracuse through neighborhood revitalization efforts, economic development, and improving community facilities and services. NBD creates a Five-Year Consolidated Plan documenting the City's housing and community needs to help inform funding and program priorities.
The Department of Neighborhood and Business Development is in the process of updating its Five-Year Consolidated Plan for 2025 to 2029, and responses from the Housing and Neighborhood Surveys will help inform the plan. The surveys will take approximately ten minutes to complete and will close on Friday, September 6 at 5 p.m. To learn more, visit goto.syr.gov/neighborhoodgrants.
