Mayor Walsh Says Hotel Tax Supports a Stronger Syracuse

Published on June 06, 2024

Statement by Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh on State Legislature approval of a 2% hotel room occupancy tax for the City of Syracuse:

“Passage of a 2% hotel room tax for Syracuse is good for the City and the region. It will help build the City’s fiscal stability without negatively impacting local taxpayers. A stronger Syracuse with a safe, vibrant downtown and convention district will increase tourism and revenue for both the City and the County. I thank Assemblyman William Magnarelli and Senator Rachel May for advancing the proposal and Assemblymember Pam Hunter for her co-sponsorship. I urge Governor Hochul to sign the legislation.”
