Each year for Arbor Day, a different school is chosen to participate in planting new trees for their community. Students from Syracuse STEM at Blodgett Middle School learned about the use of green spaces to create community and improve wellness. They explored different park design options for interacting with the space, how to make it welcoming to other students, and created a plan for how the space would look. Students will begin this green-space transformation by planting 16 trees starting at 9:30 a.m. Two memorial trees in honor of Brexialee Torres Ortiz and Aisha Haskins-Stephens will be planted following remarks from community leaders.
