Mayor Ben Walsh announced the appointment of Debdulal Bagchi to the position of Deputy Director of Digital Services in the Office of Analytics, Performance, and Innovation (API). In this role, Bagchi will be responsible for promoting digital innovations and supporting digital solutions to improve City government service delivery for residents.
Bagchi will also work with departments to enhance transparency and constituent engagement by ensuring that the City's software tools enable meaningful and accessible experiences for citizens. He’ll focus on service improvement and change management across City of Syracuse departments to ensure City services are delivered efficiently for internal and external stakeholders and adapted for the most current technology.
Bagchi has been working for City government for three years. Prior to his role as Deputy Director, Bagchi served as the City’s Technical Product Manager. In this position he established, implemented and assessed controls for efficient daily operations of applications and software and played a critical role in the implementations of SeeClickFix, which powers the SYRCityline app, and the City’s permit software application, Camino. Previously, Bagchi worked in digital management roles working for Syracuse University, Scripa Group and HabitU as well as several software startups and media and technology consulting companies.
Bagchi received a postgraduate certificate in E-Government Management and Leadership from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, a postgraduate degree in marketing from the Times School of Marketing in New Delhi, India and his Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Bangalore University in Bangalore, India.
