Mayor Walsh Appoints JaQuan Denson to Syracuse FEC Program Manager

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced the appointment of JaQuan Denson to Syracuse Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) Program Manager. As FEC Program Manager, Denson will be responsible for overseeing FEC functions, including: the program’s implementation and management, monitoring and reporting, and overall integration into City government operations.
The City of Syracuse FEC provides professional, one-on-one financial counseling to city residents. Working with the City’s approved Financial Counseling Provider, Home HeadQuarters (HHQ), Denson will monitor service delivery, counselor training and Code of Ethics adherence, and progress towards target goals.
Prior to joining City government, Denson worked as a school administrator, specializing in behavioral services at the Science Academies of New York. There, he assisted with the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs for at-risk youth in addition to regular administrative duties. He also worked at Hillbrook Detention Center as a Juvenile Detention Officer where he provided guidance to youth on discipline and personal habits, oversaw recreational activities, and provided reporting support.
Denson is certified as a financial advisor through the University of Miami. He received his bachelor’s degree from Utica College of Syracuse University in Criminal Justice and is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., a historically African American fraternity.
