Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced the appointment of Tracy Pierce to Employee Relations Officer. Working in the Department of Human Resources, Pierce will assist in the collective bargaining and negotiations processes and ensure the city adheres to fair employment practices.
In this role, Pierce will also contribute to policy supervision regarding the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). He will be responsible for ensuring compliance with administrative and regulatory requirements and will work to enforce transparent procedures in both disciplinary and grievance processes.
Pierce previously spent seven years with the United States Postal Service as a Postmaster and Supervisor in Customer Services across Central New York, including in Fayetteville, Chittenango and Liverpool. He specialized in human resources, employee development and labor relations and his work assisted in developing safety initiatives to drive employee engagement and reduce accident rates, and established employee accountability practices.
Pierce earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and has been trained in the application of several human resources policies.
