No change in setout schedule for City residents as DPW works to reduce pickup delays
Syracuse, N.Y. — The City of Syracuse Department of Public Works (DPW) continues to face recycling pick up delays as it experiences a shortage of sanitation trucks worsened by supply chain disruptions. Trash collection is being prioritized and has stayed on schedule.
The Department of Public Works is asking residents to continue placing recycling and trash out on their assigned setout days and leave recycling in place until it is collected. If possible, residents are asked to secure recyclables in bins to reduce blowing of litter.
“We apologize for this inconvenience to residents,” said Commissioner of DPW Jeremy Robinson. “We are doing everything we can right now to address the challenges facing our Sanitation Crews, and thank everyone for their patience as we wait for the arrival of needed equipment.”
The City expects to return to on time recycling pickups when new sanitation trucks arrive later this spring
