Walsh says choosing a school sends a powerful message: “we must ensure all of our children and families have paths to prosperity”
Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh will deliver the 2023 State of the City on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Walsh’s sixth State of the City address to the Common Council will be presented at the auditorium at Corcoran High School on Syracuse’s west side.
“At no point in modern history have prospects for the City of Syracuse been so bright. Presenting the State of the City at a city school sends a powerful message. It says we must ensure that all of our children and families have paths to prosperity,” said Mayor Walsh. “As our city and region prepare for the growth that is ahead, we must engage our young people and keep their interests and priorities at the forefront. They are the future of our city.”
The Mayor’s State of the City address, an annual report from the Mayor of the City to the Common Council, is required by the City’s charter. It is Mayor Walsh’s second State of the City at a city school. His first address was at Public Service Leadership Academy @ Fowler High School. His other addresses have been at the Red House in City Centre, SUNY Upstate Medical University, the Salt City Market, and JMA Wireless 5G Campus and Headquaters.
The State of the City will be broadcast on WCNY Public Broadcasting Channel 24.
