Water service on surrounding streets will be impacted until work is complete
Syracuse, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse Department of Water will close lanes at the intersection of West Genesee Street and Van Rensselaer Street beginning Wednesday, August 31 at 1:00 p.m. to install a new water main and valving at the intersection. While work is being done, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the intersection.
Water service on West Genesee Street from North Geddes Street to Leavenworth Avenue will be impacted until work at the intersection is complete. The project is expected to last 8 hours.
Actual project start dates and timeframes are contingent on favorable weather. If residents have concerns about their water at any time, please call Cityline at 315-448-CITY.
This work by the Department of Water is part of the West Genesee Dig Once project that will continue throughout the year. Dig Once projects signify an enhanced level of coordination with utility providers (water, sewer, telecommunication, gas, etc.) with the goal of replacing and repairing as much underground infrastructure as possible to minimize any future excavations made in newly paved roads.
