Mayor Walsh Announces New ARPA Dashboard Tracking Tool

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced the launch of the City’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Dashboard. The online tracking tool, developed by the Office of Accountability, Performance and Innovation (API), is part of the City of Syracuse’s commitment to data-driven governance and transparency.

The ARPA dashboard includes all approved and proposed investments and can be found on the home page of syrgov.net.  The City has dedicated staff resources to program management and oversight to monitor spending—ensuring full compliance with federal rules and measurable results for the community.

“The people of Syracuse need ARPA pandemic relief funding as badly today as when it was approved. We will keep working to make sure the investment in Syracuse helps residents now and long in to the future. As ARPA funded programs get underway, the dashboard – which updates weekly – also shows the outcomes resulting from our investments,” said Mayor Walsh. “It is important to me that we maintain commitments to our four key funding priorities: supporting children, families and neighborhoods; transforming infrastructure and public spaces; investing in jobs and economic opportunity; and enhancing government response and resilience. In order to ensure the Common Council and those we serve have a full view of how and where pandemic relief dollars are going, I’m very pleased to launch this innovative tool.”

Users will find data on the status of ARPA projects, total spending progress, priority area progress and priority area spending. The amounts that have been budgeted across projects are updated weekly on the dashboard and may vary over time. The City will proactively share information on changing project plans.

“ARPA is a once-in-a-generation investment in our City. We want to ensure that we are using it as an opportunity to pioneer data-driven culture to City Government, a key tenet of Mayor Walsh’s priorities,” said Chief of Data and Innovation Nicolas Diaz. “Since first launching the dashboard online, we have heard from experts on cities commending the project and have received inquiries from communities interested in developing a similar tool. We will continue coordinating with each City department to refine metrics for each project, using targets and outcomes to manage and measure performance, and will work to continuously improve to improve usability of the dashboard.”
