Mayor Walsh Commends Federal Delegation for Delivering on Projects

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh says City of Syracuse residents will benefit from federal funding for clean water, public safety, housing and bus rapid transit (BRT). Mayor Walsh credited U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman John Katko for delivering $6 million in Congressionally Directed Spending for projects and programs in the city.

Mayor Walsh Appoints Kelsey May to Director of Digital Services

Mayor Walsh Announces Road Reconstructionon in the University Area

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced road reconstruction projects starting this week on Maryland Avenue and Westminster Avenue in the University area. Crews will mill Maryland Avenue from Clarendon Street to Westminster Avenue on August 18. Crews will then mill Westminster Avenue from Kensington Road to the dead end of Westminster Avenue on August 19. Paving is expected to be completed by August 21.

Mayor Walsh Announces Winning Design to Reimagine City Hall Plaza

Mayor Ben Walsh announced the winning community artist that will help transform the former driveway in front of Syracuse City Hall into a vibrant and welcoming pedestrian plaza. The winning design by Jessica Whitley of Syracuse was selected by residents in an online poll this summer. The asphalt art project is expected to be installed late summer into early fall.

City of Syracuse Asks Communities to Help Select Asphalt Art Design

The City of Syracuse, in partnership with Adapt CNY, is asking for input from the community to select the asphalt art design intended to transform the driveway in front of City Hall into a welcoming plaza for pedestrians. The public is encouraged to rank three asphalt art submissions in order of preference. The responses will help determine which design will inspire the final installation.

Mayor Walsh Says Skyline Court Order Helps Protect Residents

Mayor Walsh said a State Supreme Court order issued Friday enforcing the City’s security requirements at Skyline Apartments will help protect residents and the community. City of Syracuse and Adapt CNY Announce City Flag Redesign Process

The City of Syracuse is announcing the citizen-driven process to design a new city flag. Together with Adapt CNY, a non-profit civic community organization in Syracuse, the City will form a Syracuse Flag Committee to engage residents and stakeholders in the redesign initiative. The committee’s goal is to create a new flag concept representing the history, culture, and community of Syracuse.
