Zoning Designation Letters are often requested for real estate due diligence research and transactions. They identify a property's zoning designation (zoning district) and the applicable zoning regulations. They also list any approved zoning decisions that may affect the property.
You can find the applicable zoning regulations in the Syracuse Zoning Rules and Regulations, as amended.
You can also request a copy of any listed zoning decisions from the Law Department through a Freedom of Information (FOIL) request.
The Division of Code Enforcement certifies that properties are in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. You can request certifications through the Central Permit Office at 315-448-8600 or CodeEnforcement@Syr.gov In most cases properties must be inspected.
The Zoning Office will email you a Zoning Designation Letter in .pdf format within 2 to 4 weeks.
