  • SummaryRFP for Consolidated Community and Municipal Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHGI) and Climate Action Plan (CAP)

The City has entered a contract with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) Office of Climate Change for $100,000, under the Climate Smart Communities (CSC) program, to jumpstart a Sustainability Initiative for the Syracuse Community. This project has been funded in part by the Climate Smart Communities Grant Program, Title 15 of the Environmental Protection Fund through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The City will provide $100,000 of matching internal staff support throughout this contract.

The City seeks proposals from qualified firms (“consultants”) to provide professional planning and engineering services to develop a consolidated community and municipal operations Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventory (GHGI) and Climate Action Plan (CAP). The submitted proposals may be from a consultant or team of consultants. Minority and Women Business Enterprise firms are encouraged to respond.

Under this contract, the City plans to work with a consultant, or team of consultants, to inventory community and municipal operations to inform a consolidated Climate Action Plan (CAP) that provides a feasible twenty-year vision for GHG emission reduction and climate mitigation within Syracuse. During the consolidated GHGI and development of a CAP, the consultant, or team of consultants, will develop a series of informational presentations to engage the new Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Taskforce of internal staff with GHGI and CAP concepts and recommendations.
