The project, Reconnecting Communities Planning, will undertake a planning process to redress inequities on the southside of Syracuse from a raised highway and elevated railroad that inhibit access to jobs, education, healthcare, and recreation. The City of Syracuse received a 2022 Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program grant in the amount of $500,000 for the “Reconnecting a Post-I-81 Viaduct Syracuse Planning Study.”

The study area for this planning process is located in the Southside neighborhood of the City of Syracuse and is bounded by East Adams Street, Colvin Street, Onondaga Creek, and Comstock Avenue.

The City seeks to hire a qualified planning consultant or team of consultants to undertake this planning process.
