Overview

In May 2024, Mayor Ben Walsh and the Syracuse Parks Conservancy launched the Syracuse Hometown Heroes banner program. Hometown Heroes recognizes Heroes for the sacrifices made by our veterans and those who continue to serve our country. Beginning this summer, three hundred banners featuring the pictures of city veterans and active military members will be posted on city streets through Veteran’s Day for a three-year period. The tribute banners will be hung on James Street near to Eastwood, as well as Kirk Park. The City hopes to expand this initiative in upcoming years.

Partnerships

The City created Syracuse Hometown Heroes in partnership with Syracuse Parks Conservancy and with Dunbar American Legion Post 1642. The Syracuse University Institute of Veterans and Military Families sponsors this program.

How to Order

30” x 60” banners can be purchased for $160 using the Submission Form on the Syracuse Hometown Heroes website.
