Biography
Patrick Hogan was born and raised in Syracuse, New York where he's lived all his life. The start of his public service career began in 1968 in the City's Parks and Recreation Department where he worked as a Recreation Leader before becoming a Recreation Supervisor. From there, Patrick worked as the Coordinator of Special Events and then became the Director of Public Service Programs, supervising the Parks and Recreation Department's General Programs.
After more than 25 years in the City's Park's and Recreation Department, Patrick was sworn in as Deputy Commissioner of Parks and Recreation in 1997 and served the department in that capacity for more than five years. After leaving the department, Patrick served the Syracuse City School District for three years as a member of the Syracuse Base Intervention Team (SBIT) working with children with learning and behavioral issues. With more than 30 years of experience in municipal government, Patrick ran for the Second District Council seat in 2005. He won that election and every one that followed in that district, maintaining his seat until he was termed out in 2014.
Since then, Patrick was appointed as Chairman of the Onondaga County Industrial Agency by former Chairman of the County Legislature Ryan McMahon and confirmed by the Onondaga County Legislature. Patrick was also jointly nominated by County Executive Ryan McMahon and Mayor Ben Walsh to serve on the Greater Syracuse Land Bank Board of Directors. The Common Council and County Legislature both confirmed that appointment.
Patrick remained devoted to his hometown in the years following his time on the Council and when the opportunity arose to serve, he decided to run for his old seat on the Council again.
