Buy Property from the City

There are 2 basic types of property you can buy through the City.

  • City-owned properties. The City does not maintain a public list of properties. 
    Purchase of City-owned property is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and properties are typically sold at market value, as determined by a third-party appraiser.  If there is a particular City-owned property that interests you, please click here(PDF, 928KB) or see below for the Application.  
  • Tax delinquent properties. The City’s partner — the Greater Syracuse Land Bank — has possession of seized properties. They were taken from the old owners because they didn’t pay taxes.  Available properties are listed on the Land Bank’s website.

To get a list of tax delinquent properties in Syracuse, you need to make a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request. Fill out a FOIL request.(PDF, 299KB)
