The City Planning Commission is an administrative body with advisory, planning, and regulatory roles. The Commission advises the City Common Council and other boards on matters affecting the City's development; prepares investigations, maps, reports, and recommendations relating to planning and development; participates in the preparation of the City’s comprehensive plan; recommends regulations on subjects in which they have jurisdiction such as subdivisions and zoning; and carries out the regulatory role of the City of Syracuse Zoning Rules and Regulations, as amended including holding public hearings and reviewing and approving subdivisions, site plans, special permits, and other zoning authorizations.
